Biltmore and More

My mom has been here visiting this week and we have had a fabulous time! We've cooked, walked, shopped and then walked some more. She's cooked amazing suppers at night and spoiled us completely. I didn't want to take her back to the airport!

Yesterday we went to the Biltmore in Asheville and it was amazing. The house is over 4 acres with 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms and 65 fireplaces. There's also an indoor swimming pool and bowling alley.

The gardens were beautiful.

No photos allowed inside but we found the downstairs with the kitchen and laundry room just as interesting - I think thanks to Downton Abbey!

Hurry back, Mom!

Caesars Head

Ryan took the Step 3 exam on Monday and Tuesday and we are both so, so glad it's over! Hopefully, that's the last Step exam ever! On Wednesday, he had the day off so we Caesars Head State Park to hike. It was beautiful!

This is the view from the outlook spot by the visitors' center. In the distance you can see Table Rock - another popular hiking spot.

We did the Raven Cliff Falls Trail which leads to this overlook where you can view the highest waterfall in the state from across the valley. It's over 450 feet tall. It looked more impressive in person that it does in these pictures! It was an easy two mile trail and the perfect fall day to spend outdoors!

Along the trail we could see mountains peaking in the distance. So pretty!

And the night after the Step we celebrated at Wild Wings - Ryan's favorite place downtown. I'm so glad that (at least for a little while) the studying around our house will die down.
