Pepe's Summer Hair-do

We took a break from packing yesterday morning to give Pepe his first shave of the season. This is the time of year when Pepe starts to resemble Pig-Pen on the Peanuts comic strip. Except Pepe has clumps of black hair instead of a dust cloud following him around. When he gets up from a nap there is a perfect outline of black hair showing just where he was laying down!

Here's his "before" shot - notice the clump on his stomach that is about half-way off!

A couple of summers ago we bought a set of dog clippers that do a decent job on Pepe's coat. He is part Lab and part something else (we think either German Shepherd or Irish Wolfhound) that has a thicker, coarser coat. His hair doesn't get long, just really thick. And really hot for him in the summer.

It's hard to see in the photos but he looks (and feels) a lot better! His has this sad look going on in the "after" photo because Ryan had just pulled out the blower. Look at all that hair! Eeww. And that isn't all of it - the entire porch was covered!
