Churchill Downs

We've had a busy week crisscrossing the southeast and are almost done! I spent a day in Louisville at Churchill Downs and loved it - but no surprise there.

I started the day at the Derby Museum at Churchill Downs. I always figured Churchill Downs was out in the country but it's in the middle of the city!

The famous twin spires.

The horses in the paddock area - this is where the cameras are set up on Derby Day. This horse ended up winning but I've already forgotten his name!

And they're off! I was able to stand right at the rail which I'm sure is impossible for bigger races.

It was a muddy day - here's the winner.

Making our way back towards home we spent the night with John and Eryn and got to meet baby Avery. I just love his hair!
