Weekend Happenings

This is such a fun time of year to live in Belhaven! I guess everyone is coming out of summer vacation time and getting ready for fall. Garden Club is starting up in a few weeks and Millsaps students move in on the 18th. This year the college is having everyone move in on a Thursday instead of the usual Saturday. Millsaps has this fabulous tradition of having parents, students and faculty/staff help with move-in day. So parents basically pull their car to the curb and other people haul all that crap to the right dorm room. For anyone who ever moved into Martin/Stockard at Ole Miss can you imagine that luxury?

Alleycat Bike Race in Fondren on Friday, August 12 at 6 p.m. Begins in the Rainbow Co-op parking lot.

Bright Lights Belhaven Nights on Saturday, August 13 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Carlisle Street. I absolutely LOVE this event. We have a wedding Saturday night so I don't think we'll be able to go, but it's a great family-friendly event. Arts and crafts, live music, children's play areas and beer. http://www.greaterbelhaven.com/

Happy Friday!

P.S. Check out this great idea featured today on A Cup of Jo. A wonderful idea on to save photos from summer vacation!

Wow! That is great that people help the students unload their stuff. I would have really appreciated that when I moved into Cain-Tatum at Delta State! True Mississippi hospitality :).

They have that luxury at Ole Miss now! My sister is a junior and while I can't remember about her freshman year, I know when she moved to Crosby last year all the volunteers had my mom's car and hers unloaded and in the room before 9am! They get volunteers from the city and different campus organizations (including fraternities and sororities) send groups.
