Goin' to the Chapel

Our good family friend Mattia is getting married this weekend at Duke. We are, unfortunelty, not going, but my parents and grandparents are! Mattia and SangHee have the sweetest story. He is from Italy and in the US doing aids research (a few years ago he was at St. Jude's in Memphis and met my dad through the Rotary Club) and she is from South Korea and came here to study something impressive like negotiating international peace through a scholarhip with the Rotary Club. They met at a creative dancing class at Duke and hit it off! After deciding it wouldn't hinder their visa application process to get married, they are tying the knot this Saturday at a garden on the Duke campus. And to kick it all off, Papa Carrel is going to marry them! Their faith backgrounds are Catholic and Buddist and PC is a retired Church of Christ minister!

Mom and Dad with SangHee and Mattia at Thanksgiving 2008. Mattia has been to my wedding, Sis & Oliver's wedding and Thomas & Laura's wedding--probably one of the few people outside of our immediate family who has celebrated at all three! And he drove more than 10 hours to get to each of them, and then turned around and drove back.

Mattia and SangHee at Laura & Thomas' wedding in December. Mattia's parents were also there, but I don't think I got a photo of them.
